Jackie Robinson broke into MLB 61 years ago today…WHO CARES I SAY !!

Who cares I say!!!

Well before you slam me via e.mail or Digg let me say that I could care less the color of Jackie Robinson’s skin, Roberto Clemente’s, Ichiro Suzuki’s, Dave Nilsson’s or even Larry Walker’s. Now, my examples are thoughts of “non-Americans” but the measure is the same. It’s about their abilities. Clemente had 3,000 hits and was a defensive threat. Ichiro Suzuki has averaged 237 hits per year for seven years of MLB play (1608) and had 1278 in Japan. (Now that’s unreal!)

So as much as it is a milestone for anyone to breaks open the floodgates for equality, I would rather remember him for stealing home 19 times in his career.
