This is why I didn’t make any predictions…

I was excited about the Cubs v. Cards weekend given it’s the BEST rivalry in sports, but I had my worries.

In a nutshel, the Cardinals will have zero chance of catching and passing the Cubs without better starting pitching.

Wellemeyer’s performance sums up what’s wrong with their starters.  Welly goes only 5 innings, giving up 9 hits, and 3 earned runs.  The next three pitchers (Perez, Springer and Thompson) EACH give up an earned run.  Starters don’t go deep enough in the game and the bullpen is wiped out.

It was great to see Jimmy Baseball though …
